â–  Meanings of Symbols
Cautions and presentation of danger are expressed
using the following three kinds of symbols.
Warning/Caution Labels
â–  Precautions Concerning Handling
(a) Keep in mind to understand the meanings of
the warning/caution labels throughly to
conduct work on the engine more safely
without causing any faults.
(b) Never operate the engine until you
understand the meanings of the warning/
caution labels throughly.
(c) Always obey the detailed descriptions of the
warning/caution labels and the warning
texts described in this Operation &
Maintenance Manual to work on
accordingly.
(d) Do not tear or damage warning/caution
labels, nor wipe them with solvent.
(e) Do not paint the warning/caution labels
when re-painting the engine.
(f) In case warning/caution labels affixed to the
engine becomes unreadable, damaged or
peeled off, purchase a new label from your
MHIET dealer "

10) and replace it.
(g) After replacing an old part bearing warning/
caution labels with a new part, affix a new
warning/caution labels in the same way as
before.

Locations (Examples)
Examples of locations of the warning/caution labels
are indicated on the next page.
Before using the engine, check the locations of the
warning/caution labels, since they differ according
to the specifications of the devices and the
construction work carried out by the generator
suppliers.
Table 1-2 Meanings of Symbols
Symbol Meaning
Indicates prohibition of a danger-
ous action.
Indicates an operating instruc-
tion. In order to avoid a danger, it
is necessary to take this action.
Indicates warning for a danger-
ous place and action, as well as
a possibility that danger may oc-
cur due to carelessness, or neg-
ligence of safety duties.
Make sure that all warning/caution
labels are legible. Clean or replace
the labels when the description and/or
illustration are not clear to read.
* Illegible labels fail to alert people, which may
cause personal injury, environmental pollution,
and damage to the engine.
* For cleaning the labels, use a cloth and soapy
water. DO NOT USE CLEANING SOLVENTS,
GASOLINE, OR OTHER CHEMICALS THAT
MAY ERASE THE PRINT OR CAUSE
PEELING OFF OF THE LABEL. If the labels are
damaged, replace them with new ones.
* When replacing a part that has a label attached,
attach the new label to the new part so that it is
in the same state as before replacement.
* New labels are available at your MHIET dealer,
MHIET group company, or MHIET.
