Testing and Adjustments
The following test procedures may be used
to test various operating parameters.
RX Sensitivity Test (SINAD)
Communications Analyzer Setup:
HP8920 Screen: RX with SINAD field
RF Generator freq.: 879.99 MHz (ch. 333)
Amplitude: -116 dBm
AF Gen1 To: FM 8 kHz
AF Gen1 Freq.: 1 kHz
Pass Specifications: +12 - +40 dBm
Test Mode Commands:
11333#
Load synthesizer to channel 333
08#
Unmute receive audio path
58#
Turn on compandor
474#
Set volume control to level 4
356#
Set RX audio path to Ext. Audio-
Path
NOTE
In some cases a channel other than 333
must be used in order to avoid interfer-
ence. In other cases it is useful to test the
radio performance on the band edges such
as channel 991 (lowest frequency) and
799 (highest frequency).
Duplex SINAD can be measured with the
same setup by entering 122# and 05# test
command. Narrow band SINAD can be
measured by entering 571# and setting the
FM Deviation to 3kHz. Refer to the RX trou-
bleshooting section for radios not within the
pass specifications.
RX Audio Distortion Test
Communications Analyzer Setup:
HP8920 Screen: RX with Distn field
RF Generator freq.: 879.99 MHz (ch. 333)
Amplitude: -50 dBm
AF Gen1 To: FM 8 kHz
AF Gen1 Freq.: 1 kHz
Pass Specifications: .01% - 5%
Test Mode Commands:
11333#
Load synthesizer to channel 333
08#
Unmute receive audio path
58#
Turn on compandor
474#
Set volume control to level 4
356#
Select external RX audio path
Refer to the RX troubleshooting section for
radios not within specifications.
