Whenattemptingtostarttheengine,alwayssitintheoperator´sseatwiththeparkingbrakeengaged
andallcontrolelementsinneutral.Neverattempttostarttheenginewhilestandingbesidethema-
chine.

Beforestartingtheenginecompleteanydailymaintenanceitems.Seepage7-8fordailymaintenanceitems.
Performthefollowingoperationstostarttheengine.
1.Youmustbesittingintheoperator’sseat.
2.Fastenyourseatbelt.
3.Applytheparkbrake.Seepage3-8forparkbrakeinformation.
4.PlacethePowerTake–Off(PTO)switchinthe“OFF”position.Seepage3-8forPTOswitchinformation.
5.PlacethePTOshiftleverinthe“REAR”PTOposition.Seepage3-8forPTOshiftleverinformation.
6.Placethetransmissionrangeleverintheneutralposition.Seepage3-8fortransmissionrangeleverinformation.
7.HydrostaticTransmission(HST)pedalsareintheneutralposition.Seepage3-8forHSTpedalinformation.
8.Placethehandthrottleleverat1/4position.Seepage3-8forhandthrottleinformation.
9.Turnthekeyswitchtothe“ON”position.Seepage3-8forkeyswitchinformation.
10.Verifytheoilpressurewarningindicatorlightandbatterychargewarningindicatorlightsarelit.Seepage3-8for
instrumentclusterpanelinformation.
11.Turnthekeyswitchtothe“Preheat”position.Seepage4-7fortheappropriatepreheattimesbasesonambient
airtemperature.
12.Turnthekeyswitchtothe“START”position.Assoonastheenginestartsreleasethekeytoallowthekeyto
returntothe“ON”position.
NOTICE:Donotengagethestartingmotorcontinuouslyformorethan10seconds.Doingsomaycausestarting
motorfailure.
13.Checkiftheoilpressurewarningindicatorlightorthebatterychargewarningindicatorlightsarelit.Shutoffthe
engineimmediatelyifanyoftheselightsarelit.Seepage8-1fortroubleshootinginformation.
