Eyepiece shutter
Always use the eyepiece shutter when using this system.
Failure to do so may result in exposure of the eye to laser beam emitted from the eyepiece,
resulting in injury.
The shutter module is provided to block the
laser beam from the binocular eyepiece. The
interlock mechanism of the module blocks the
optical path to the binocular eyepiece during
TIRF observation, while the mechanism closes
the shutter in the laser unit during normal
observation (observation using eyepieces) so
that the laser beam is not guided into the TIRF
attachment.
An illumination pillar switch to be mounted on
the microscope's illumination pillar is supplied
with the eyepiece shutter. However, ignore this
switch as this switch's function is not required
to operate this system.
Set the dial to "Confocal"
for TIRF observation.
Set the dial to "Bino" for
normal observation.
