12. Steering
Your boat comes equipped with a hydraulic steering system. The basic system for a single engine boat
contains a steering wheel, a hydraulic helm pump, a hydraulic steering cylinder, and hydraulic hoses. If
you purchase a Mercury Verado® six cylinder engine, the steering system includes an electric power
assisted steering pump to aid in the handling of the vessel.
Operaon
When turning the steering wheel, the helm pump forces hydraulic uid through hoses to and from the
steering cylinder which is connected to the ller arm on the engine. The cylinder moves the ller arm
to either port and starboard, depending upon the direcon the steering wheel is turned.
