Refer to the manufacturer’s manual for complete instrucons and warranty.
20. Petrol Generator (oponal)
If equipped, the petrol powered generator is driven by a self contained engine and provides 230V
Alternang Current (AC). Depending on the electrical load, Quicksilver® oers either a 4kW or 6kW low
CO generator. The system consists of a seawater pickup system for cooling, an engine exhaust with a
muer, a ship / shore power contactor for power distribuon, and a petrol vapor blower system.
Carbon Monoxide can cause severe nausea, fainng or
death. The exhaust system must be leak proof and rounely
inspected.
Moving parts can cause severe injury or death. Operate the
generator only when all guards, screens and covers are in
place.
Fire can cause severe injury or death. Do not smoke or allow
sparks or ames near the fuel system. Avoid contact of
ammable materials with hot engine parts.
Operaon
It is recommended that you read and understand the informaon in the manufacturer’s owners
manual before operaon. The generator is warranted separately by the generator manufacturer, NOT
Quicksilver®. Follow the recommended maintenance and warranty schedule per the generator
manufacturer. Generator abuse or improper maintenance may adversely aect claims made under
generator manufacturer separate warranty.
Fuel System
The petrol generator pulls fuel from the main tank, through an an-siphon valve. Do not remove the
an-siphon valve, as this prevents fuel from siphoning out of the tank if the fuel line was ever cut or
broken below the level of the fuel in the tank. Do not run the generator out of fuel because there is
the potenal of drawing in air and necessitang bleeding of the system before restarng the unit. As
a precauon, check the fuel lines frequently for leaks or any surface cracking on the hose. Replace the
hose immediately if any issues are found.
Venlaon of Bilge Space
Prior to starng the generator, you must run the bilge blower for at least four minutes and manually
check the bilge for fuel or fuel vapor. Quicksilver® also recommends that you run the blower when
operang below cruising speed. To operate the blower, press the blower switch located under the
helm seat next to the generator remote start.
Explosive fuel vapors can cause sever injury or death. Use
extreme cauon when handling, storing and using fuels. Do
not store equipment containing petrol in non-vented areas.
Prior to starng the generator, check the bilge for fuel or
fuel vapor. If fumes are detected, do not start the generator
unl the source of fumes is determined, corrected, and the
bilge area is safely venlated.
Engine Cooling
Make sure that engine cooling water is owing throughout the system. On the port side of the engine
compartment, there is an external water pickup for cooling the engine. Prior to starng the engine,
make sure that the seacock is opened and water is throughout the system. FAILURE TO DO THIS WILL
CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
