Individual Kit Notes from Luke
All samples contained in the Slated Room Collection were recorded by Luke (The eDrum Workshop) and
producer James Routh (StarStuff Music) in the slated drum room at Rock Hard Studios in Lancashire, England.
The room’s hard, reflective ambience colours the sonic image with a unique character that ties all of these kits
together and inspired the modelling used onboard the module.
FF Brass A, B & C
These kits contain snare samples from a Pearl 14” x 8” Free Floating brass snare drum. Its deep, brash tone
inspired the rest of the kit to be modelled with a punchy kick and toms, complemented by medium-bright
cymbals. Samples were also taken from the snare with the wires disengaged and assigned as a “strainer off”
instrument on the AUX1 input.
Kit A (Direct Small Room) contains samples taken from the close mics and a small amount of room ambience.
The kit has an immediate, mostly “dry” character and represents an accurate acoustic sound and feel.
Kit B (Bright Room & Ring) contains samples with more room ambience mixed in, as well as a modelled room
that is much larger, reflective and bright. The samples are taken from closer to the edge of the snare head
which gives them more tone and longer “ring”. The other instruments have been modelled with more sustain
to match.
Kit C (Modern Processed) contains samples mixed in-between those of the previous kits and that have been
pre-processed to pack more punch. The module processing is applied more aggressively to create a more
powerful, modern sound and feel.
