3.5 Controlling the operating mode
Changing RUN > STOP
You have the option of changing the mode of the CP between RUN and STOP using the
STEP 7 / NCM S7 configuration software (PLC > Accessible Nodes).
Procedure
● Changing from STOP to RUN:
The CP reads the configured and/or downloaded data into the work memory and then
changes to the RUN mode.
● Changing from RUN to STOP:
The CP changes to STOP. Established connections (TCP or UDP connections) are
terminated (transitional phase with LED display "STOPPING").
The reaction is as follows in STOP:
– The communications connections mentioned above are terminated.
– Configuration and diagnostics of the CP is possible (system connections for
configuration, diagnostics, and PG channel routing are retained).
– HTTP access is possible.
– The time of day is not forwarded.
Module access protection
The configurable module access protection has the following effects on the change of mode:
● Module access protection: Not disabled
The functions can be executed.
● Module access protection: Status dependent
With this setting, it is only possible to access the CP when the CPU is in STOP mode.
