9.1 Firmware overview
There are two independent firmware parts available for the CP:
● The Siemens firmware
This firmware part is necessary for the basic functions of the CP. The CP ships with
Siemens firmware installed.
● The ERPC firmware
The ERPC firmware only needs to be downloaded, if you want to use ERPC functions.
9.2 Downloading the ERPC firmware
Information on downloading the ERPC firmware
The ERPC firmware is downloaded from the ILS Workbench to the CP. Read the relevant
documentation of our cooperation partners ILS Technology LLC.
Downloading the ERPC firmware during ongoing operation
Updating with a new firmware version of the ERPC software is possible during ongoing
operation-. The CP can remain in RUN mode. Established communication connections area
not terminated during the download.
Requirement for downloading the ERPC firmware
In the "Users" tab of the properties dialog of the CP in STEP 7, you entered a user name and
password. In the next dialog "Edit User Entry", do not assign any special rights. The ERPC
firmware must be downloaded under this user name.
Requirement for the use of the ILS license
To use ERPC communication, you require a license from ILS Technology LLC. The relevant
license file is loaded on the CP.
Make sure that the current time of the CPU is set on the station in which the ERPC-CP is
inserted. If the CPU time is not up-to-date, the license file will be shown as invalid.
