System overview
The following figure shows an ERP subscriber at the enterprise management level
connected via a LAN to the CP 343-1 ERPC in a SIMATIC S7 station.

Only the CPU and CP 343 1 ERPC are shown as modules in the S7 station since these are
the relevant modules for the ERPC functions. The most important software components for
ERPC communication are shown in the S7 station:
● The ERPC application that handles communication between the automation and the
enterprise management level runs on the CP. This is downloaded to the CP as the ERPC
firmware and ILS Workbench configuration.
● In the CP, you can also see the Siemens CP firmware and CP services that, among other
things, handle the ERPC communication between CP firmware and CPU.
