17 After Finishing Work
17.1 Preparing for Transportation or Storage
WARNING
To reduce the risk of personal injury from unintended
activation or unauthorized use, switch off the motor, ensure
the cutting attachment has stopped and remove the
activation key before transporting the trimmer or putting it
down.
To prepare the trimmer for transportation or storage:
Switch off the trimmer, @ 14.2.
Remove the activation key, @ 13.2.
If the trimmer became wet during operation, allow it to dry
completely before charging or storing.
18.1 Trimmer
WARNING
To reduce the risk of personal injury from unintended
activation, never transport the trimmer with the activation
key inserted.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of injury from loss of control and blade or
line contact, never carry or transport your trimmer with the
cutting attachment moving, @ 5.7.4. Ensure the cutting
attachment has stopped before setting it down, @ 5.7.4.
When transporting the trimmer:
Adjust the drive tube to its shortest length, @ 12.1.
When transporting the trimmer by hand, hold the drive
tube in a manner that balances the trimmer horizontally.
Keep the cutting attachment pointing backwards, opposite
the direction in which you are walking.
When transporting the trimmer in a vehicle, secure and
position it to prevent turnover, impact and damage.
A Note on Battery Transport
The battery inside this trimmer complies with the
requirements set forth in UN-Manual ST/SG/AC.10/11/
Rev.5/Part III, Subsection 38.3.
Commercial air, vessel and ground transportation of lithium
ion cells and batteries contained in equipment is regulated.
The battery inside this trimmer is classified as a UN 3481,
Class 9, packaging group II product. Shipping it requires
compliance with all applicable shipping regulations. Check
with the ground, vessel, air cargo or passenger airline to
determine if transport is prohibited or subject to restrictions
or exemptions prior to shipping or travel.
Normally, no further conditions have to be met by the user in
order to transport this trimmer by road to the operating site.
Check and comply with any special regulations that may
apply to your situation.
