THROTTLE CABLE
ADJUSTMENT
2.0 – 4.0 mm
(0.08 – 0.16 in)
Measure the throttle cable play by
turning the throttle grip. The throt-
tle grip should have 2.0 – 4.0 mm
(0.08 – 0.16 in) play.
1. Remove the boot 1.
2. Loosen the lock nut 2.
3. Turn the adjuster 3 in or out to
obtain the correct play.
4. Tighten the lock nut 2.
5. Recheck the throttle cable
play. Readjust it if it is not
within the correct limits.
6. Replace the boot 1.
Throttle cable play:
2.0 – 4.0 mm (0.08 – 0.16 in)
WARNING
Inadequate throttle cable play
can cause engine speed to rise
suddenly when you turn the
handlebars. This can lead to
loss of control and an accident.
Adjust the throttle cable play
so that engine speed does not
rise due to handlebars move-
ment.
WARNING
Improper throttle cable adjust-
ment can lead to loss of rider
control.
After the adjustment is com-
pleted, check that handlebars
movement does not raise the
engine idle speed and that the
throttle grip returns smoothly
and automatically.
