  If your Sym Scooter engine is hard to start, there might be several reasons. It could be due to no fuel in the fuel tank, in which case you should check and adjust the fuel level. Another possibility is a clog in the pipes, fuel tank, carburetor, or intake vacuum, so inspect these components for blockages. A malfunction or loosen/damaged fuel pump vacuum could also be the culprit, requiring a check and adjustment. Additionally, try loosening the carburetor drain bolt to check for gasoline inside the carburetor, or remove the spark plug, install it into the spark plug cap, and perform a spark test against the engine ground.

You should also check the cylinder compression pressure using a compression pressure gauge and inspect the carburetor for any clogs. Lastly, verify if the engine is overheating.
