FUNCTION CHARACTERISTICS
Vector jump - dphi
Preface
The protection is available in the XMR-V, XMR-P and XMR-G versions.
In case of the circuit breaker opening, following the load decrease, a voltage and phase variation
may occur on the generator. The vector jump function is employed to detect the phase changes
rapidly and to issue the trip command on the basis of positive / negative or any (module) changes
fastest than the minimum or maximum frequency protections. The function has a trip threshold with
definite time tripping characteristic.
Operation and settings
The protection measures the phase difference of the voltage between two consecutive power
cycles.
The calculated value is compared with the dphi>def threshold; a trip is issued when the phase dif-
ference overcomes the adjustable threshold (START); if instead it drops below the threshold, the
element is restored.
The phase change only positive or only negative, as well as any variation (module) may be selected.
The protection is inhibited when a logic input programmed as block (BLOCK1) is active.
