Transmission Oil Air Cleaner
Both transmission and final drive are
combined
in
one housing. The lubricant
used
is
hypoid oil which does not have
to be changed
Should the need arise to add
oil,
it
should
only be done
with
the necessary work-
shop equipment.
All the dust present
in
the air drawn in
by the engine is retained by the filter
element in the air cleaner.
A dirty filter element not only reduces
the
engine output but can also cause
premature engine wear. Under normal
conditions it Is not necessary to service
the filter element more frequently than
is
mentioned in the Warranty and Main-
tenance booklet. If local conditions are
such that the vehicle is often driven on
very dusty roads, the cleaner must be
serviced more frequently, even daily if
necessary.
To clean or to replace the filter element,
do the following:
Release the four clips -A- and take top
part of air cleaner off.
Pull
hose-B-off.
Take the filler element out and clean or
replace it. Remove the
dirt
by shaking
the filter element out. with the dirt-
trapping
side
down.
Note
Under no circumstances may the paper
element be cleaned or soaked with gaso-
line,
cleaning solvents or oil.
When installing the air cleaner, make
sure the element is properly seated and
hose-B-
is
properly connected.
