Laying up/Launching
Before taking the boat out of the water for winter/out-of-season storage have an authorized Volvo Penta work-
shop inspect the engine and other equipment. Have any necessary repairs or service work carried out so that
your boat is in top condition for the new season.
WARNING! If the boat is equipped with Power Trim Assistant the function must be turned off before taking
the boat out of the water. This prevents automatic trimming of the drive/drives if any test runs are performed
while the boat is on land. For instructions on how to turn off the function please refer to the section “Power
Trim Assistant” in the chapter “Operating”.
Inhibition should be carried out to ensure that the engine and transmission are not damaged while out of com-
mission during the winter/off-season. It is important this is done properly and than nothing is forgotten. We have
therefore provided a checklist covering the most important points.
WARNING! Read the chapter on Maintenance carefully before starting work. It contains instructions on
how to carry out the most common maintenance and service operations safely and correctly.
Inhibiting
The following are best carried out with the boat in the water:
Change oil in the drive.
Clean the seawater filter, if installed.
Clean and inhibit the seawater system.
Remove the impeller from the seawater pump.
Store the impeller in a sealed plastic bag in a cool
place.
● Check the condition of the engine coolant anti-
freeze. Top up if required.
IMPORTANT! An anti-corrosion mixture in the
engine coolant system provides no protection
against freezing. If there is any possibility the
engine will be subjected to freezing temperatures
then the system must be drained.
Drain any water and contaminants from the fuel
tank. Fill the tank completely with fuel to avoid con-
densation.
IMPORTANT! Be careful when cleaning with a
high pressure water spray. The spray must not be
pointed toward the exhaust and drive union bel-
lows, the trim/steering cylinder seals, the propel-
ler shaft seal, hoses etc.
Change engine oil and replace oil filter.
Change oil in the reverse gear.
Replace fuel filter and fuel pre-filter.
Run engine to normal operating temperature.
The following should be carried out with the boat out of the water:
Clean the hull and drive directly after taking up the
boat (before it dries).
