Chapter 4
Installing the Deployment Software
This chapter details the procedures for installing deployment soware on RedHat/CentOS and
Ubuntu operang systems. All soware installaons use standard Linux RPM and Linux DEB
packages and require root access.
The deployment soware consists of the following soware packages:
• Xilinx
®
runme (XRT): XRT provides the libraries and drivers for an applicaon to run on
Alveo™ cards.
• Deployment plaorm: The deployment plaorm provides the rmware needed to run pre-
compiled applicaons. It cannot be used to compile or create new applicaons. To create new
applicaons, install the development soware detailed in Chapter 6: Next Steps. While you
can also install the development soware on a machine with an installed card, doing so is not
necessary to run applicaons.

XRT and Deployment Platform Installation
Procedures on RedHat and CentOS
Use the following steps to download and install the XRT and DFX-2RP deployment plaorms.
DFX-2RP plaorms consist of base and shell parons. For more informaon, see Dynamic
Funcon Exchange in XRT Documentaon.
