GARP/GVRPOverview

GARPisakindofgenericattributeregistrationprotocol,whichdistributesVLANand

multicastMACaddressdynamicallytothememberinthesameswitchingnetworkby

applyingthedifferentapplicationprotocols.

GVRP(GARPVLANRegistrationProtocol)isakindofapplicationprotocoldenedby

GARP ,whichmaintainsVLANinformationinswitchdynamicallybasedonGARPprotocol

mechanism.AllswitchessupportingGVRPcanreceivetheVLANregistrationinformation

fromotherswitchesandupdatelocalVLANregistrationinformationdynamicallyincluding

thecurrentVLANonthisswitchandtheportsinthisVLAN.Alsoallswitchessupporting

GVRPcanbroadcastthelocalVLANregistrationinformationtootherswitches,sothat,

theVLANcongurationsofalldeviceswithGVRPinthesameswitchingnetworkhave

theconsistentinterworkingaccordingtodemand.
