7.2 Detection of errors
The detected errors are transmitted to the basic unit which signals their presence on the red
ERR LEDs located on the front of the basic unit (see Figure 1).
An error on a remote unit is also shown by the ERR LED of the unit concerned.
If an error occurs in an extension, the SUPPLY LED flashes on the extension concerned.
As soon as the error has been detected and corrected by the user it can be acknowledged:
Õ By restarting the basic unit
Õ Via the software
Õ Or via the program.
Only one error for each class is stored. If more than one error of the same class occurs at the
same time:
Õ Only the first error is stored.
Õ The first error should be acknowledged to allow the following errors to be read, this
procedure should be followed right up to the last error.
Õ Before the first error is acknowledged, the subsequent errors are not displayed.

Detection: Immediate Immediate
- Bus error: if the basic
unit detects a frame
control error (CRC)
during 9 successive
cycles or a timeout
error or the absence
of a reply from a unit.
- Cycle timing error: if
the system detects
the overriding of the
pre-defined cycle time
after 16 consecutive
cycles.
- Unit error: the basic unit
queries one slave per
cycle. An error is
detected between 1 and
31 cycles (depending
on the bus structure).
- Program syntax error:
The basic unit detects
this type of error when
passing from STOP to
RUN via the switch or via
the software or by online
validation of a program
modification.
LED status
- on the basic unit:
ERR LED on
RUN LED off even if
the RUN/STOP switch
is set to RUN
ERR-LED on
RUN-LED off even if
the RUN/STOP switch
is set to RUN
ERR LED on
In accordance with the
configuration, the RUN
LED is OFF even if the
RUN/STOP switch is
set to RUN
ERR-LED on
After a program syntax
error the RUN LED is off.
- on the extensible
remote units:

the error in question

Reaction while
powering up or while
the basic unit is in use:
All outputs stay at 0 or
are set to 0.
The programming
software no longer has
access to the basic
unit.

OFF as long as the
error is still present.

software retains
access to the basic
unit.
The user program is
not started or is
stopped.
The program is not
stopped, by default.
With prior configuration
you can have the
system stopped in the
event of an error (see
chapter 5 , section on
systems constants).
