Carefully read p. 39 (MAINTENANCE).
The air cleaner should be inspected and
cleaned every 6000 km (3750 mi), depend-
ing on the conditions of use.
If the vehicle is used on dusty or wet roads,
the cleaning operations should be carried
out more frequently.
To clean the filtering element it is neces-
sary to remove it from the vehicle.
REMOVAL
Position the vehicle on the centre stand.
Unscrew and remove the five screws (1).
Remove:
filter case cover (2);
flame trap grid (3);
filtering element (4);
+ grid (5).
Check:
filtering element (4);
filter case gasket (6);
and change them if necessary.
CLEANING
aWARNING
Do not use petrol or inflammable sol-
vents to wash the filtering element, in
order to avoid fires or explosions.
Wash the filtering element (4) with clean,
non-inflammable solvents or solvents
with high volatility point, then let it dry
thoroughly.
Apply a filter oil on the whole surface of
the filtering element.
Ì Periodically check if there are impuri-
ties in the lower part of the discharge pipe
(7):
If necessary:
Withdraw the pipe (7).
Empty its content into a container and
deliver it to a salvage centre.
