Applying
The lever has a ratchet which holds it
on automatically. The telltale light on
the instrument panel comes on.
Releasing
Pull the lever up slightly, press the
knob in and lower the lever.
The handbrake acts on the rear wheels.
If it has to be applied while the car is
moving, do not pull the lever up too
hard, or else the rear wheels could be
overbraked and the tail of the car could
slide.
To avoid corrosion, apply the hand-
brake lightly from time to time when
coasting to a standstill, for instance at
a traffic signal, provided that it is safe
to do so.
aThe brake lights do not come on
when the handbrake is applied.c
