Keys
You are provided with 2 ignition
keys.
Should you lose your keys please
refer to the information regard-
ing the electronic immobilizer
(EWS) ( 39).
A single key fits the steering and
ignition lock, the fuel filler cap
and the seat lock.

On request, the aluminum cases
and the aluminum topcase can
also be ordered with locks for
the same key. Please contact
an authorized workshop for this
purpose, preferably an authorized
BMW Motorrad retailer.
Switching on ignition
Insert key into the steering and
ignition lock. Turn key to posi-
tion 1.
Parking lamps and all function
circuits are switched on.
Engine can be started.
Pre-Ride Check in progress

ABS self-diagnosis is
performed ( 76).
with Automatic Stability Control
(ASC)

Switching off ignition
Turn key to position 1.
Light is switched off.
Handlebars are not locked.
Key can now be removed.
Electrically powered acces-
sories remain operational for
a limited period of time.
Battery can be charged via on-
board socket.
Locking handlebars
Turn handlebars to left.
