Keys
You receive one master key
and one spare key. If a key is
lost, please note the informa-
tion on the electronic immobi-
lizer (EWS) ( 39).
Ignition key and steering
lock, tank filler cap lock
and seat lock are all operat-
ed with the same key. Cases
with locks for the same key
as the cases available as op-
tional accessories can be or-
dered on request.
Switching on ignition
Turn key to position 1.
Side lights and all function
circuits switched on.
Engine can be started.
Pre-ride check is
performed. ( 63)
with OE BMW Motorrad Inte-
gral ABS:
Turn key to position 1.

ABS self-diagnosis is per-

Switching off ignition
Brake servo assistance
is not available when the
ignition is off.
Do not switch off the ignition
while the motorcycle is being
ridden.
Turn key to position 2.
Light switched off.
Handlebars not locked.
Key can be removed.
