Installation
Follow the steps below when setting up a ControlSpace EX-1280, EX-440C, EX-1280C, or EX-12AEC for the
first time. See the following sections for additional information about each step.
Note: Due to the dierences between the models, some of the installation steps may apply to certain models
and not to others.
1. Download and install the ControlSpace Designer software.
2. Mount the processor in a rack.
3. Make analog audio connections.
4. Connect an AmpLink-enabled amplifier.
5. Make Dante network connections.
6. Make far-end connections.
7. Make remote control and GPIO connections.
8. Establish a network connection.
9. Connect the processor to a power outlet.
10. Configure the processor using ControlSpace Designer software.
1. Downloading & Installing ControlSpace Designer
Download and install ControlSpace Designer software to a computer (Windows only) on the same local
subnet as the processor. Visit PRO.BOSE.COM to download the latest software version, which includes
product firmware, the latest algorithms, and a detailed help system to guide system designers and installers
through configuring the processor for use in high-quality audio systems.
2. Rack-mounting
The processor is designed to fit standard 19-inch (48-centimeter) rack equipment, occupying one rack unit
(1RU) in height, and requires a mounting depth of 10.5 inches (26.7 centimeters) from the front rack rail. Use
four fasteners with washers (not included) to mount the processor.
The product uses two variable-speed fans and can safely operate in ambient conditions from 0 °C to 40 °C
(32 °Fto104 °F). Refer to the Technical Information > Technical Specifications (page 28) for power
dissipation ratings.
CAUTION: Only use the mounting hardware recommended by the rack manufacturer.
CAUTION: Due to ventilation requirements, ensure proper enclosure ventilation if the unit is installed in an
enclosed space such as a cabinet or credenza.
