Installation
English 19Installation & Operation Guide EX-440C/1280/1280C/12AEC

Serial
Using the included 3-pin Euroblock connector, connect industry-standard RS-232 control
systems to the Serial port on the EX-1280, EX-440C, or EX-1280C.
The 3-pin connector on the processor corresponds to a DB-9 connector pinouts as follows:
Serial Port DB-9 Connector Pinout
Tx Pin 2 (Receive Data)
Rx Pin 3 (Transmit Data)
(Ground) Pin 5 (Ground)
CC-16
Using the included 3-pin Euroblock connector, connect a Bose ControlSpace CC-16 zone
controller to the CC-16 port on the EX-1280 or EX-1280C. For more information on how to
wire these connections, see the CC-16 installation guide available at PRO.BOSE.COM.
You can network up to 15 CC-16 zone controllers to control the EX-1280, EX-1280C, or any
device on the Bose ControlSpace control network. An external power supply is required.
In addition to wiring the A and B terminals, we recommend connecting the ground terminal
from the CC-16 port EX-1280 or EX-1280C to each CC-16 zone controller. The maximum
recommended distance between the processor and any CC-16 is 610 meters (2,000 feet).
8. Power Connection
The processor can operate with AC mains line voltages from 100volts to 240 volts at
50Hz/60 Hz over a detachable IEC power cord. Power consumption is 37 volt-amps at an
ambient temperature of 40 °C (104 °F).
To power on the processor, use the included power cord to connect the processor's power
inlet to a power outlet. After powering on, the boot time may be as long as 40 seconds. The
processor is fully operable when the Power/Status LED on the front panel is lit solid white.
Note: Make all audio and network connections before connecting the power cord.
9. Configuration with ControlSpace Designer
If all the network connections and settings are configured correctly, ControlSpace Designer
will automatically identify the processor on the network.
To scan and update the processor's firmware, use the Hardware Manager tool in
ControlSpace Designer. Once Up-to-Date appears as the Status for the processor, proceed
with your system design using ControlSpace Designer.
For details on using ControlSpace Designer to configure, control, and monitor the processor
or entire systems built with Bose networked system electronics, see the help system for
ControlSpace Designer.
