If you are required to drive with the
trunk lid open, make sure that all
windows are closed and the climate
control blower switch is set to high
speed. DO NOT use the recircula-
tion mode.
Turn Off Your Engine
Before turning off your engine, always
allow the engine to resume normal
idling speed and run for several sec-
onds. This assures that the engine’s
temperature can fall gradually. This is
particularly necessary after any period
of hard driving.
CAUTION!
The engine’s temperature will remain
high after you turn the engine off. Af-
ter the engine is turned off, the vehi-
cle’s electric cooling fan will continue
to run for approximately 60 seconds.
Even if the cooling fan stops, it may run
again suddenly because of the high
temperature. Therefore, extra atten-
tion and caution must be given when
working in the engine compartment.
Hood Release
The hood is held closed by primary
and secondary latches. Both latches
must be released to open the hood.
• Pull the hood release lever located
under the left side of the instrument
panel.
• Pull the secondary latch located un-
der the front edge of the hood, near
the center and raise the hood.
• Use the hood prop rod to secure the
hood in the open position.
