GENERAL
LUBRICATION
The selection of
the
proper
lubricant
and
its correct
app
li-
cation
at
regular
intervals does much to increase
the
life
and
operation
of
a
ll
moving parts of
the
vehicle. Conse-
quently,
it
is
imponam
thal
the correct
grade
of
oil
Or
grease, as described on
th
e folJowing pages, be used.
ENGfNE
LUBRICATION
Prop
er
selection
of
the
engine oil to be used will
add
mueh
to
the
performance, reliability, economy
and
long life
of
the
en~i
n
c.
It
is
imperative
that
the
"breaking-in"
oil in
the
crankcase
of
your
new
Corvette
at deliver)' be used for
the
first 500 miles.
Light
oils
contribute
toward a better
brcaki~g
in

the engine as they assure case
of
starting,
prompt

quantity
of
oil
to
the
bearings,
less friclion

the lowest atmospheric
temperature

drained

refilled, the crankcase oil should be
sclccterl, not on

basis
of
the
existing tCl'nperature
at
the
lime
of
the
change,
but
on the lowest
temperature
antici-
paled
for lhe period
during
which lhe oil
is
to
be
used.
Unless the crankcase oil is selected on
the
basis
of
anticiĀ·
pated
temperature,
difficulty in
starting
will be experienced
at
each
sudden
drop
in
temperature.
