DISTRInUTOR
The distributo,' is equipped with a lubrication cup. Fill
this cup with chassis lubricant and turn down one LUrn
every 1000 miles. The distrihutor cap should be removed
every 5000 miles, then remove rotor and apply a small
amOUnL of pctroleum jelly on distributor cam surface by
hold.ing a clean cIOLh soaked in je lly against it while
cranking SLaner.
TARTlNG MOTOR
tartin~ mOlor end frames arc equipped with oil-less bcar-
'n~ which do not require lubricant.
STARTER SOLENOID
A few drops of engine oil shou ld be used on the pivots of
the startcr shifl lever mechanism. Do not oil solenoid
plunger.
RFAR AXLE
Since the r ear axle operates under the most severe lubr ica-
lion conditions at high speeds, a gear lubricant is required
1hat will satisfactorily lubricate hypoid rear axles. Such
lubri cants have been developed and arc commonJy referred
to as uMuILi-Prupose" gear lubricants.
"Multi-Purpose" gear lubricants must be carefu ll y COID -
ur'lded , of the latest non-co.rosive type and of proven
quality . The lubricant manufacturer mUst be responsible
fOI' lhe S3lisfactnry performance of his product. His reputa-
tion is the best indicaLion of quality .
It is recommended thai S.A.E.. 90 "Multi-Purpose" gear
lubricant be used in lhe CorvcLlt"' rear a..xle.
CAUTION: Do not lise Straight i H;ncrol Od gear lubriconts
in the rear ax/e.
\,Vhen checking lubricant level, the unit bein~ checked
should bc
at operating temperature . \Vith unit at operating
tcmperature the lubricant should be level with bottom of
the filler plug- hole. If the lubricant is checked with the
unit colo, the lubricant level should be 12 inch below the
filler plug hole .
Normally, seasonal changes of the rear axle lubricant are
not required but may be advisable in vehicles subject to
severe service. \Vh

CAUTION: Do not usc water , sleam

or alcohol to flush units.
THANSMISSION
" Automatic Transmission Fluid Type AI! bearing an AQ.
ATF number should be used in the Powcrglidc Transmission.
Check oil
