DANGER

isanexplosivegasandmustneverexceedalevelof2%oftheair.

Antidotes:
–External:Flushwithwater.Callaphysicianimmediately.
–Internal:Drinklargequantitiesofmilkorwaterfollowedwithmilkofmagnesiaorvegetable
oil.Callaphysicianimmediately.
–Eyes:Flushwithwaterfor15minutes.Callaphysicianimmediately.

fullfaceshieldandrubbergloveswhenworkingonornearbatteries.
•Useinsulatedtoolswhenworkingnearbatteriesorelectricalconnections.Useextremecautionto
avoidshortingofcomponentsorwiring.

•Onallvehicles,turnoffallaccessoriesbeforechargingbatteries.
NOTE:Recycleordisposeofdiscardedbatteriesinaccordancewithlocal,state,andfederalregulations.
ClubCarelectricvehiclesusedeep-cyclebatteries.Automotivebatteriesshouldneverbeusedinelectricvehicles.
Newbatterieswillnotdelivertheirfullcapabilitiesuntiltheyhavebeendischargedandrecharged20to50times.To
obtainthemaximumservicelifefromnewbatteries,restrictelectricvehicleswithnewbatteriesto36holesofuse
betweenchargesinthersttwomonthsofoperation.Batteriesshouldbefullychargedbeforerstuseofnewvehicle,
beforerstuseofavehicleafterstorage,andbeforereleasingvehicleforuseeachday.
WATERQUALITY
Tokeepbatteriesingoodworkingcondition,thepurityofwaterusedisveryimportant.Distilledwaterisquitepure
andisthemostcommontypeofwaterusedinbatteries.Otheracceptabletypesaredeionizedwaterandwaterfrom
reverseosmosis.Ordinarytapwatershouldnotbeusedbecauseitcontainsanexcessiveamountofimpuritiesthat
willdegradebatteryperformance.
Distilledwaterisproducedbydistillation,aprocessinwhichwaterisboiled,thesteamiscollectedandthencondensed
backintowater.Thisprocesscreatesanishedproductfreeofminerals,havingleftalltheimpuritiesintheoriginal
watersample.ClubCar,alongwithourbatterymanufacturers,highlyrecommendsthatdistilledwaterbeusedin
electricvehiclebatteries.
Deionizedwateristhepurestformofwater,butitisalsothemostexpensive.Deionizationremovesallionizable
particles(organicandinorganic)fromwaterthroughionexchange.Positivelyandnegativelychargedionsareremoved
fromthewaterandreplacedwithH+andOH-ions.Whenthesetwoionsarecombined,theyformH2O,orpuried
water.
