Neveruseyourhandsto clearacloggedchute assembly.ShutOFFengine
and remainbehindhandlesuntil allmovingpartshavestoppedbefore
usingthedean-out tooltoclearthechuteassembly.
Thechuteclean-outtoolisconvenientlyfastenedto therearoftheaugerhousing
with amountingclip.Shouldsnowandicebecomelodgedin thechuteassembly
duringoperation,proceedasfollowsto safelycleanthechuteassemblyandchute
opening:
1. Releaseboththeaugercontrolandthedrivecontrol.
2. Stoptheenginebyremovingthesafetykeyorpositionthethrottle to the
STOPposition.
3. Removetheclean-outtoolfromtheclipwhichsecuresit totherearofthe
augerhousing.
4. Usetheshovel-shapedendoftheclean-outtooltodislodgeandscoopany
snowandicewhichhasformedin andnearthechuteassembly.
5. Refastentheclean-outtooltothemountingclipontherearoftheauger
housing,reinsertthesafetykeyandstartthesnowthrower'sengine.
6. Whilestandingintheoperator'sposition(behindthesnowthrower),engage
theaugercontrolfor afewsecondstoclearanyremainingsnowandicefrom
thechuteassembly.
BeforeStartingEngine
Read,understand,andfollow all instructionsandwarningsonthe
machineand inthis manualbefore operating.
Oil
Theunitwasshippedwith oilintheengine.Checkoillevelbeforeeachoperationto
ensureadequateoilin theengine.
NOTE:Besuretocheckthe engineonalevelsurfacewith theenginestopped.
1. Removetheoilfillercap/dipstickandwipethedipstickclean.
2. Insertthecap/dipstickintotheoilfillerneck,butdoNOTscrewit in.
3. Removetheoilfillercap/dipstick.Ifthelevelislow,slowlyaddoil(5W-30,
with aminimumclassificationofSF/SG)untiloillevelregistersbetweenhigh
(H)andlow(L).

flOTE:Donotoverfill.Overfillingwith oilmayresultin enginesmoking,hard
startingorsparkplugfouling.
Replaceandtightencap/dipstickfirmlybeforestartingengine.
Gasoline
Useautomotivegasoline(unleadedorlowleadedto minimizecombustionchamber
deposits)witha minimumof87octane.Gasolinewith upto10%ethanolor15%
MTBE(MethylTertiaryButylEther)canbeused.Neveruseanoil/gasolinemixture
ordirtygasoline.Avoidgettingdirt, dust,orwaterinthefueltank.DONOTuseE85
gasoline.
Refuelin awell-ventilatedareawith theenginestopped.Donotsmokeor
allowflamesorsparksintheareawheretheengineisrefueledor where
gasolineisstored.
Donotoverfillthefueltank.Afterrefueling,makesurethetankcapisclosed
properlyandsecurely.
Becarefulnotto spillfuelwhenrefueling.Spilledfuelorfuelvapormay
ignite.If anyfuelisspilled,makesuretheareaisdrybeforestartingthe
engine.
Avoidrepeatedorprolongedcontactwith skinorbreathingofvapor.
Useextremecarewhen handlinggasoline.Gasolineisextremely
flammableandthe vaporsareexplosive.Neverfuel the machineindoorsor
while the engineishotor running. Extinguishcigarettes,cigars,pipesand
other sourcesof ignition.
1. Cleanaroundfuelfill beforeremovingcapto fuel.
2. Filltankuntilfuelreaches1/2inchbelowthe bottomof thefiller neckto
allowspaceforfuelexpansion.Becarefulnotto overfill.
Starting Engine
Alwayskeephandsandfeet clearof movingparts.Donot usea pressurized
starting fluid. Vaporsareflammable.
flOTE:Allowtheengineto warmupfora fewminutesafterstarting.Theenginewill
notdevelopfull poweruntilit reachesoperatingtemperatures.
1. Makecertainboththeaugercontrolanddrivecontrolareinthedisengaged
(released)position.
2. Insertsafetykeyintoslot.Makesureit snapsintoplace.Donotattemptto
turnthesafetykey.
NOTE:Theenginecannotstartwithoutthesafetykeyfully insertedintothe
ignitionswitch.
ElectricStarter
Theelectricstarter isequippedwith a groundedplug, andis designedto
operateon 120VAChouseholdcurrent.It mustbeusedwith aproperly
groundedthree-prong receptacleat all timesto avoidthe possibility
ofelectrk shock.Followall instructionscarefullyprior tooperating the
electricstarter. DONOTuseelectricstarter in the rain.
Determinethatyourhome'swring isa three-wiregroundedsystem.Aska licensed
electricianif youarenotcertain.
Ifyouhaveagroundedthree-prongreceptacle,proceedasfollows.If youdonot
havethe properhousewiring,DONOTusetheelectricstarterunderanyconditions.
1. Pluganextensioncordintotheoutletlocatedontheengine'ssurface.Plug
theotherendof extensioncordintoa three-prong120V,grounded,ACoutlet
in awell-ventilatedarea.
Theextensioncordcanbeanylength, but must beratedfor 15Aat 125V,
groundedand ratedfor outdoor use.
2. Movethrottlecontrolto FAST(rabNt)_J_II position.
