releasestarterbutton.Electricstarterisequippedwith thermaloverload
protection;systemwill temporarilyshutdowntoallowstarterto coolif
electricstarterbecomesoverloaded.
6. Astheenginewarms,slowlyrotatethechokecontroltoRUNposition.Ifthe
enginefalters,restartengineandrunwith chokeat half-chokepositionfor a
shortperiodoftime,andthenslowlyrotatethechokeinto RUNposition.
7. Afterengineisrunning,disconnectpowercordfromelectricstarter.When
disconnecting,alwaysunplugtheendat thewall outletbeforeunplugging
theoppositeendfromtheengine.

Donotpull the starter handlewhiletheengineis running.
I. Movethrottle controlto FAST(rabbit)_Ill position.
2. MovechoketotheCHOKE position(coldenginestart).If engineis

3. Pushprimerthreetimes,makingsureto coverventholewhenpushing.
If engineiswarm,pushprimeronlyonce.Alwayscoverventholewhen
pushing.Coolweathermayrequireprimingto berepeated.
4. Pullgentlyonthestarterhandleuntil it beginsto resist,thenpullquickly
andforcefullyto overcomethecompression.Donotreleasethe handleand
allowittosnapback.ReturnropeSLOWLYto originalposition.Ifrequired,
repeatthisstep.
5. Astheenginewarms,slowlyrotatethechokecontroltoRUNposition.Ifthe
enginefalters,restartengineandrunwith chokeat half-chokepositionfor a
shortperiodoftime,andthenslowlyrotatethechokeinto RUNposition.
Toavoidunsupervisedengineoperation, neverleavethe machine
unattendedwiththeenginerunning.Turntheengineoffafteruseand
removesafetykey.
StoppingEngine
Afteryouhavefinishedsnowthrowing,runenginefora fewminutesbefore
stoppingtohelpdryOFFanymoistureontheengine.
I. Movethrottle controltoOFFposition.
2. Removethesafetykey.Removingthesafetykeywill reducethepossibilityof
unauthorizedstartingoftheenginewhileequipmentis notinuse.Keepthe
safetykeyinasafeplace.Theenginecannotstartwithoutthesafetykey.
3. Wipeanymoistureawayfromthecontrolsontheengine.
ToEngageDrive
I. Withthethrottle controlinthe Fast(rabbit)_ II]l position,rnoveshift lever
intooneofthesixforward(F)positionsortwo reverse(R)positions.Selecta
speedappropriateforthesnowconditionsanda paceyou'recomfortable
with.
NOTE:WhenselectingadriveSpeed,usetheslowerspeedsuntil youare
comfortableandfamiliarwith theoperationof thesnowthrower.
2. Squeezethedrivecontrolagainstthe handleandthe snowthrowerwill
move.Releaseit anddrivemotionwill stop.
NOTE:NEVERrepositiontheshiftlever(changespeedsordirectionoftravel)
withoutfirst releasingthedrivecontrolandbringingthe snowthrowerto a
completestop.Doingsowill resultin prematureweartothesnowthrower'sdrive
system.
ToEngageAuger
Toengagetheaugerandstartthrowingsnow,squeezetheaugercontrol
againsttheleft handle.Releasetostoptheauger.
Replacing Shear Pins
Eachaugerbladeissecuredtothespiralshaftwith ashearpinandbow-tieclip.If
anaugerbladestrikesaforeignobjector icejam,thepinwill shearoff toprevent
damageto theblade.Ifanaugerbladedoesnotturn,checkto seeif itspinhas
shearedoff. SeeFigure14.
