NOTE:Checkthesparkplugonceaseasonorevery25hoursof operation.Change
thesparkplugonceaseasonorevery100hours.Toensureproperengineoperation,
thesparkplugmustbeproperlygappedandfreeofdeposits.
1. Removethesparkplugbootandusea sparkplugwrenchto removethe
plug.SeeFigure17.
2. Visuallyinspectthesparkplug.Discardthesparkplugif thereisapparent
wear,orif theinsulatoriscrackedorchipped.Cleanthesparkplugwith a
wirebrushif it isto bereused.
NOTE:AnF6RTCsparkplugmustbeusedfor replacement.ForSears

replacementsparkplug951-10292.
Measurethepluggapwith afeelergauge.Correctasnecessarybybending
sideelectrode.SeeFigure18.Thegapshouldbesetto0.020-0.030inches
(0.60-0.80mm).
4. Checkthatthesparkplugwasherisingoodconditionandthreadthespark
plugin byhandto preventcross-threading.
5. Afterthesparkplugisseated,tightenwith asparkplugwrenchto compress
thewasher.
NOTE:Wheninstallinganewsparkplug,tighten1/2-turnafterthespark
plugseatsto compressthewasher.Whenreinstallingausedsparkplug,
tighten1/8- to1/4-turnafterthesparkplugseatsto compressthewasher.
