Lubrication
GearShaft
Thegear(hex)shaftshouldbelubricatedat leastonceaseasonorafterevery25
hoursofoperation.
I. Topreventspillage,removeallfuelfromtankbyrunningengineuntil it
stops.
2. Carefullypivotthesnowthrowerupandforwardsothat it restsontheauger
housing.
3. Removethelowerframecoverfromtheundersideofthesnowthrowerby
removingtheself-tappingscrewswhichsecureit.
4. Applya lightcoatingof BostikRegulargradeNever-Seez®to thehexshaft.

NOTE"Whenlubricatingthe hexshaft,becarefulnotto getanylubricantonthe
aluminumdriveplateorrubberfrictionwheel.Doingsowill hinderthesnow
thrower'sdrivesystem.Wipeoffanyexcessorspilledlubricant.
Wheels
Atleastonceaseason,removebothwheels.Cleanandcoattheaxleswith a
multipurposeautomotivegreasebeforereinstallingwheels.
AugerShaft
Atleastonceaseason,removetheshearpinsonaugershaft.Sprayanygeneral
purposelubricantinsideshaft,andaroundthespacersandflangebearingsfoundat
eitherendofthe shaft.SeeFigure20.
ShavePlateand Skid Shoes
Theshaveplateandskidshoesonthebottomofthesnowthroweraresubjectto
wear.Theyshouldbecheckedperiodicallyandreplacedwhennecessary.
NOTE:Theskidshoesonthismachinehavetwo wearedges.Whenonesidewears
out,theycanberotated180°to usetheotheredge.
Toremoveskidshoes:
Removethetwo carriagebolts,washers,andhexflangenutsthatsecure
eachskidshoeto thesnowthrower.
2. Reassemblenewskidshoeswith thefourcarriagebolts(twooneachside),
washers,andhexflangenuts.Referto Figure21.
Toremoveshaveplate:
I. Allowtheenginetorununtilit isoutoffuel.Donotattemptto pourfuel
fromtheengine.
2. Carefullypivotunitupandforwardsothat it restsontheaugerhousing.
3. Removethecarriageboltsandhexnutswhichattachit tothesnowthrower
housing.
4. Reassemblenewshaveplate,makingsureheadsof carriageboltsareto the
insideof housing.Tightensecurely.SeeFigure21.
