AUTO SCROLLER KNOB LOCK

Your saw is equippedwith a thumboperated lockfor
lockingthe knobin (4) positions,90" apart. Lockand
unlockthe scrollermechanismof your saw by rotating
the lock,locatedon the frontof yoursaw, inthe
directionof the arrows as shown in Figure 7. Locking
the knobas shown in Figure7 permits cuts to be
made closeto walls and corners. For scrollcutting,
the lockmust be in the unlocked positionfor free
rotationof the saw bar.
SCROLL CUTTING

Yourauto-scrollsaw is designed to permit 360"
rotationof the saw blade so that intricatedesigns may
be cutwith minimumeffortwith the blade installedin
the backslot.Your saw may be operated either by
•rotatingthe auto scrollerknobmanuallywith your free
hand, or by guidingthedirectionof the cut with
appliedpressureon the handle as shown in figures8
and 9.
WARNING: Excessiveside pressureto the
blade couldresultin brokenblades or damage to
the materialbeing cut.
METAL CU'I-rlNG
Many kinds of metalscan becutwithyoursaw.Be
carefulnotto twistorbend the blades.Do not force. If
the bladechattersorvibratesexcessively,use a finer-
toothblade or higherspeed,ifbladeheatsexcessively,
usalowerspeed. If bladeteeth becomefilledorclogged
whencuttingsoftmetals,suchas aluminum,usaa
coarser-toothbladeor lowerspeed.We recommenduse
ofoilwhen cuttingmetalsto keepbladescool,increase
cuttingaction,and prolongblade life•Clamp the work
firmlyand saw closetothe clampingpointto eliminate
anyvibrationof the workbeingcut.
Whencuttingconduit,pipeorangle iron,clampworkina
visaifpossibleand sawcloseto the _sa. To cutthin
sheetmatedals,"sandwich" the matedalbetween
hardboardor plywoodand clampthe layerstoeliminate
vibrationand matedaltearing.Bydoingthis,the material
willbe cutsmoothly.Layoutyour patternor lineof cut
ontop of the "sandwich".
Important - Whencuttingmetal, keep exposedportion
ofsaw barclean andfree of metalchipsbywiping
frequentlywithan oilycloth.Use extremecautionin
disposingofoilyclothaftercompletionofjobto prevent
potential firehazard.
