3.9 SCL logging
3.9.1 Overview of process
The process of creating a CID file to import into a UR is described in the Configuring the UR using SCL section on page 3-18.
As described, the file can be created using EnerVista software or other, third party IEC 61850 configuration software. The
file transfer to the UR can be done by EnerVista or another client using one of the specified protocols. Upon receipt of the
complete CID file, the UR attempts to parse the file, extract the configuration data and settings that it requires, verify the
data, and then apply the data. During the data application process, the UR is taken out of service automatically if required.
When complete, the UR goes back to its previous in-service or out-of-service state.
During this entire process, an internal log file in the UR is updated to provide information and possibly error logs that can
be used to check the outcome of the process. Transfer this log file from the UR and examine it. This happens automatically
if EnerVista is used to import the CID file to the UR.
