E. Room Sensor Installation
Theroomsensorisasmalltemperaturesensorontheendof
a60"wire.Thissensorisinstalledmuchlikeastandardwall
thermostat.Thereisaremoteroomsensorportontherear
oftheunitforeasyexternalconnection.Usestandard18-2
thermostatwiretoextendthesensortothedesiredlocation
(50'maximum).Theroomsensorshouldbeinstalledinthe
locationwhereyouwanttocontrolthetemperature.
NOTE:Distancesofmorethan25feetfromtheunitorin
another room are not recommended.The room sensor is
essentialfortheP-Seriesexcellentefciency.
NOTE:Itisrecommendedthattheroomsensorbeinstalled,
evenifonlyinstalledontherearoftheunitasareturnair
sensor.
F. Low Draft Voltage Adjustment
Theseunitsarepre-testedatthefactorywithexactly120
VAC, 60 Hz. They are checked and adjusted for rebox
tightness, gasket leakage, motor operation and igniter
operation.The P-Series is then factory set at a mid-point
adjustmentandinmostcaseswillnotneedanyadjustments.
NOTE: The factory low draft setting may not be correct
for the unit's permanent installation conditions.
Thecontrolboard on theP-Seriesisequippedwith a low
draftadjustmentportlocatedonthecontrolfacejusttothe
rightoftheigniterlight.Figure5.4.Thisvoltageadjustment
isprovidedtoallowtheunittobeadjustedforthehousehold
voltagewheretheunitisgoingtobeinpermanentoperation.
NOTE: The line voltage varies from area to area and often
home to home.
Thelowdraftvoltageshouldbeadjustedtoachievethemost
efcient burn on low burn or "maintenance". This voltage
adjustmentallowstheinstallertochangethelowvoltageset
pointapproximately10volts.Thisadjustmentshouldbedone
bytheinstallerduringsetupbecauseadraftmeterreading
isrequired toinsurepropersetup.

On a P-Series the draft test hole is
undertheleftrearcorneroftherebox
onthepedestalbase.
Iftheunitisnotadjustedproperly,itdoesnotcauseasafety
concern.Iftheunitisadjustedtoohigh,onlyefciencyislost.
Iftheunitisadjustedtoolow,thelowdraftpressureswitch
willnotallowthefeedmotorortheignitertooperate.
Asimpledrafttestshouldbeperformedaftercompletingthe
uepipeinstallation.Torecordtheresultsforfuturereference:
1. Plugunitintoa120VAC,60HZoutlet.
2. Closethehopper lid, front view door,and the ash pan
door.Neitherpelletsorarearerequiredforthistest.
3. Withthemodeselectorinthe“OFF”position,turnthefeed
adjusterto“TEST”.
4. Record the high draft_____in W.C. (Normal is -.50 to
-.60)ThecontrolwillbeontheHighDraftforatotalof2
minutes.
5. After1minute,thecombustionmotorwillgodowntolow
draft and the distribution blower will go on high.Allow
approximately 15 seconds to pass for the combustion
motortoslowbeforecheckingthelowdraft.
6. Ifthelowdraftisbetween-.35and-.45,recordthereading
_____ in W.C. If the reading is higher, slowly turn the
setscrewcounter-clockwiseuntilthedraftlowers.Ifthe
readingislower,veryslowlyturnthesetscrewclockwise
untilthedraftincreases.
NOTE: In some cases, the draft may not go as low as
-.35 to -.45 even with the set screw completely counter-
clockwise. Ideally, you should just set it as low as
possible.

Connect the power cord to a 100 VAC, 50 Hz grounded
receptacle. (Asurge protector is recommended to protect
thecircuitboard.)Alsobesurethatthepolarityoftheoutlet
thatthestoveispluggedintoiscorrect.
