Lightingtheremanuallywillnotbenecessaryunlessthe
ignitersystemfails.
1. Flip the Igniter Switch Down intothe“MANUAL-LIGHT”
position.SeeFigure4.8.
2. Open inner and outer ash doors as shown in Figures
5.1 thru 5.3. Located in the maintenance and service
sections of this manual.
3. Fill burnpot with pellets as shown in Figure 4.9. Only
ll level with the front edge. ( DO NOT OVERFILL )
4. Have matches or other ignition source ready.

ThiswillstartthecombustionblowerandallowtheESPto
controlthereinrelationtotheTempDialsetting1through7.
OncethereiswellestablishedtheTempDialcanremainon
anynumbersettingdesired,orchangedtothe“AUTOMATIC”
setting.Ifyouchangeto“AUTOMATIC”remembertosetthe
TempDialtodesiredtemperature.
NOTE: When the Switchis set to Manual-Light in the
“AUTOMATIC” mode, the wall control will function asin
Auto-Lightexcepttherewillnotbeallowedtogoout.Itwill
onlybeallowedtogotoaminimumburnratebetweenthe
timesthewallcontroliscallingforheat.Thisrateisabout1
poundoffuelperhour.
7. Light the starting gel with a match.
8. Close the doors
Therewilllightandthecontrolwill adjust the re to the
proper levelaccording to the temperature readingat the
wallcontrol.
CAUTION
• Avaporashcouldoccuriftoomuchtimeisallowed
topassbeforelightingthestartinggel.
• Care mustbe taken not to get starting gel on your
handsor clothing.Seriousburns couldoccurduring
thelightingprocess.
• Never try to apply more starting gel to an already
burningre,orarewithsmolderingpellets.
6. Apply starting gel as shown in Figure 4.11.
NOTE: Stirring the starting gel into the pellets usually
allows the re to become established quicker.
NEVER USE GASOLINE, GASOLINE-TYPE LANTERN
FUEL, KEROSENE, CHARCOAL LIGHTER FLUID, OR
SIMILAR LIQUIDS TO START OR “FRESHEN UP” A
FIRE IN THIS FURNACE. KEEP ALL SUCH LIQUIDS
WELL AWAY FROM THE FURNACE WHILE IN USE
