SECTION 7. TROUBLESHOOTING
Heater Will Not Fire (Millivolt):
Is the pilot lit?
Does pilot burner stay lit?
Is system switch “ON”?
Is main burner lit?
Is main burner lit?
Clean the lter? Does the main burner re? See page 37.
Replace gas valve.
Turn thermostat up.
Does the pilot stay lit when the
knob is released?
Is thermostat set higher than
pool temperature?
Jump across both “TH”
terminals on gas valve.
Jump across pressure switch
terminals.
Remove jumper wire from
pressure switch.
Check for adequate water ow
rate.
Readjust or replace pressure
switch. See section on
“Pressure Switch” under
Section VI.
Remove jumper wire from
“TH” terminals on valve.
If output is still low, replace
thermopile.
Problem may be a bad wire or
low gas pressure.
Jump across thermostat
terminals.
Remove jumper wire from
pressure switch.
If thermopile is below 400mV,
check gas pressure or block-
age of orice.
Remove the jumper wire from
the thermostat and replace the
thermostat.
Is gas valve knob in “ON”
position?
Set system switch to “ON”
position.
Turn gas valve to “ON”
position.
Check thermopile output using
a millivolt meter as follows:
Is tip of the thermopile
engulfed by the pilot ame?
Check for inadequate gas supply, pressure, pipe size. See Gas Piping Sec-
tion. Check for blockage of pilot orice.
Check the orice for blockage or
adjust thermopile.
Remove both “TH” wires from the
gas valve and relight the pilot.
Attach millivolt meter to read
thermopile output.
If thermopile is about 500mV,
replace gas valve.
