CONTROLS AND FEATURES
Engine Cover Latch
The engine cover latch fastens the
engine cover to the outboard motor.
Trim Tab
The trim tab compensates for ‘‘torque
steer,’’ which is a reaction of the
outboard motor to propeller rotation.
If uncompensated, torque steer would
make the outboard motor tend to turn
to one side.
When the trim tab is correctly
adjusted (p. 62), steering effort is
equal in either direction.
INSTRUMENTS
Trim Meter
(optional equipment)
The trim meter indicates the relative
trim angle of the outboard motor.
Refer to the trim meter when using
the power trim/tilt switch to achieve
the best performance from the boat.
