Network Interface Controller
The server board includes one integrated onboard Network Interface Controllers (NIC) that
provides two RJ45 ethernet ports. The NIC is a 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX/1000BASE-TX network
solution based on the Intel 82546EB single-chip Fast Ethernet PCI Bus Controller. As a PCI bus
master, the controller can burst data at up to 132 MB/s. The controller contains two receive and
transmit FIFO buffers that prevent data overruns or underruns while waiting for access to the PCI
bus.
The NICs are stacked on top of each other, with NIC2 on the top and NIC1 underneath it. The
controller can be disabled through the BIOS setup menu. Disabling the controller disables both
NIC ports.

NOTE
To ensure EMC product regulation compliance, the system must be used
with a shielded LAN cable.
Supported Network Features
The SE7501HG2 supports the following features of the 82546EB controller:
• 32-bit PCI bus master interface (direct drive of bus), compatible with the PCI Bus
Specification, Revision 2.2
• Chained memory structure with improved dynamic transmit chaining for enhanced
performance
• Programmable transmit threshold for improved bus utilization
• Early receive interrupt for concurrent processing of receive data
• On-chip counters for network management
• Support for 10 Mb/s, 100 Mb/s, and 1000 Mb/s networks, full or half duplex-capable, with
back-to-back transmit at 100 MB/s
• Auto-detect and auto-switching for 10, 100, or 1000 Mbps network speeds
• Low-power +3.3 V device
• Integrated physical interface to TX magnetics
• The magnetics component terminates the 100Base-TX connector interface. A flash device
stores the network ID
• Support for Wake on LAN (WOL)
• Advanced Networking Service Features
