Winterizing
Q Your Jacuzzi
®
spa is designed to automatically protect itself
against freezing when operating properly.
Q During periods of severe freezing temperatures, you should
check periodically to be certain that the electrical supply to the
spa has not been interrupted.
QIn extreme cold weather (below 0°C), we recommend that the
filter/circulation pump be set for 24-hour operation (see the
section “Programming The Primary Filter”) and that auto-heating
be selected (see the section “Auto Heating”) to protect the hot tub
against damage.
QIf you do not intend to use your spa, or if there is a prolonged
power outage during periods of severe freezing temperatures,
it is important that all water be removed from the spa and
equipment to protect against damage from freezing.
For expert winterization of your spa, contact your author-
ized dealer.
In emergency situations, damage can be minimized by taking
the following steps:
- Disconnect the spa from the electric mains.
- Follow the directions for draining the spa.
- Turn the massage/diverter selector(s) into the middle combo
position (A) to allow the water in the plumbing lines to drain.

- Turn the waterfall valve to the open position to allow the wa-
ter in the plumbing lines to drain.
- As the water level drops below the seats, use whatever means
necessary to get the water out of the recessed seating areas
and into the footwell, such as a wet/dry vacuum.
- Open all the air controls and leave them open until you
resume use of the spa.
- When the water level ceases to drop, use whatever means
available to remove any remaining water from the footwell,
such as a wet/dry vacuum.
- Remove the equipment-side cabinet panels and locate the
drain plugs in the front of each pump. Remove these plugs to
allow the water to drain out of the pumps and heater.
Note: Use a wet/dry vacuum or other means to keep this from
flooding the equipment compartment. Replace the drain plugs.
- Loosen hose clamp at bottom of heater and pull hose off
of heater fitting (twist the hose back and forth while pulling
downward). Tip hose down and allow it to drain and then rein-
stall hose and clamp.
- Loosen the hose clamp on the circulation pump intake behind
the control box and pull the hose off (twist hose back and forth
while pulling outward). Tip hose down and allow it to drain and
then reinstall hose and clamp.
- Loosen hose clamp at bottom of CLEARRAY® system and pull
hose off of CLEARRAY fitting (twist the hose back and forth
while pulling downward). Tip hose down and allow to drain.
Then reinstall hose and clamp. Remove the cover of the CLEAR-
RAY system to access the UV bulb and quartz tube. Remove
and store the UV bulb in a safe location. Remove and dry off
the quartz tube then reinstall it. Depending on the length of
time, consider replacing the UV bulb when you resume use of
your hot tub.
- Refit the cover side panels (and the expanded polyurethane
insulating panels, where present) and cover the hot tub to stop
any humidity from getting inside.
Consult your Jacuzzi dealer if you have any questions
regarding winter use or winterizing.
Restarting your spa in cold weather
If you want to start up your spa after it has sat empty for a time
in freezing temperatures, check whether the water remaining
in certain sections of the piping is still frozen: this situation may
block water flow preventing the spa from operating properly
and possibly damaging the equipment.
Under these circumstances we recommend contacting your
reseller prior to attempting to restart the spa.
Water Quality Maintenance
To decrease the risk of contracting a waterborne illness (e.g. an
infection, bacteria or virus) and/or respiratory ailments, maintain
water quality within specified limits. This will enhance your enjoy-
ment and prolong the life of the hot tub’s equipment. Doing so
requires regular attention because the water chemistry involved
is a balance of several factors. Procrastination in regard to water
maintenance will result in poor and potentially unhealthful condi-
tions for soaking and even damage to your hot tub investment. For
