ENGINE TROUBLESHOOTING
If something is wrong with the engine, refer to the table below for the cause and its corrective measure.
Trouble Cause Countermeasure
Engine is difficult to start or won't
start
Insufficient engine power.
Engine stops suddenly.
z No fuel flow.
z Air or water is in the fuel system.
z In winter, oil viscosity increases, and
engine revolution is slow.
z Battery becomes weak and the engine
does not turn over quick enough.
z Insufficient or dirty fuel.
z The air cleaner is clogged.
z Insufficient fuel.
z Check the fuel tank and the fuel filter.
Replace filter if necessary.
z Check to see if the fuel line coupler bolt and
nut are tight.
z Bleed the fuel system (See "Bleeding Fuel
System" in as required maintenance)
z Use oils of different viscosities, depending
on ambient temperatures.
z Clean battery cables & terminals.
z Charge the battery.
z In cold weather, always remove the battery
from the engine, charge and store it indoors.
Install it on the tractor only when the tractor is
going to be used.
z Check the fuel system.
z Clean or replace the element.
z Refuel.
z Bleed the fuel system if necessary.
