Fuel Supply
Explosive fuel vapors.

WARNING
Installing fuel system. Explosive fuel vapors can
causesevereinjuryordeath. Fuelleakagecancause
an explosion. Do not modify the tank or propulsion
enginefuel system. Equip craft with a tank allowing one
of the two pickup arrangements described in the
installation section. Tank and installation must conform
to U.S.C.G. Regulations.
Generator sets, in most cases, draw fuel from the same
tank as the propulsion engines. If the tank’s fuel pickup
opening allows, use a multiple dip tube arrangement
(Figure 6-3). The alternate tank should have a smaller
separate pickup opening allowing a single dip tube
(Figure 6-4). Equipthefueltankwithaprecipitationtank
andadrainpetcocktoremoveanyaccumulateddirtand
water. See Figure 6-5.
