11.24 Cleaning the air filter and air filter box
Note
Environmental hazard Hazardous substances cause environmental damage.
– Dispose of oils, grease, filters, fuel, cleaning agents, brake fluid, etc., correctly and in compliance with
the applicable regulations.
Info
Do not clean the air filter with fuel or petroleum since these substances attack the foam.
Preparatory work
– Remove the seat. ( p. 49)
– Remove the air filter. ( p. 50)

Main work
– Wash the air filter thoroughly in special cleaning liquid and
allow it to dry properly.
Air filter cleaner ( p. 110)
Info
Only press the air filter to dry it, never wring it out.
– Oil the dry air filter with a high-grade air filter oil.
Oil for foam air filter ( p. 110)
– Clean the air filter box.
– Check intake flange for damage and looseness.
Finishing work
– Install the air filter. ( p. 50)
– Mount the seat. ( p. 49)
11.25 Removing the main silencer
Warning
Danger of burns The exhaust system gets very hot when the vehicle is driven.
– Allow the exhaust system to cool down before performing any work on the vehicle.
