4. Coolant temperature gauge
WARNING
To avoid personal injury or death:
• Do not remove radiator cap until coolant
temperature is well below its boiling point. Then
loosen cap slightly to the stop to relieve any
pressure before removing cap completely.
• With the key switch at “ON”, this gauge indicates
the temperature of the coolant. “C” for “cold” and
“H” for “hot”.
• If the indicator reaches the “H” position (red zone),
engine coolant is overheated. Check the tractor by
referring to ENGINE TROUBLESHOOTING on
page 85.

5. Hourmeter / tachometer
This meter gives readings for engine speed, PTO shaft
speed and the hours the tractor has been operated.
• The tachometer indicates the engine speed and the
540 PTO shaft speed location on the dial (PTO 1).
• The hourmeter indicates the hours that the tractor
has been used in 5 digits and the last digit indicates
1/10 of an hour.

PARKING
1. Parking brake
WARNING
To avoid personal injury or death:
• Always set the parking brake, stop the engine
and remove the key before leaving the tractor
seat.
• When parking, be sure to set the parking brake.
To set the parking brake,
– Interlock the brake pedals.
– Depress the brake pedals.
– Depress the parking brake pedal to park.

• Before getting off the tractor, disengage the PTO,
lower all implements to the ground, place all control
levers in their neutral positions, set the parking
brake, stop the engine and remove the key.
• If it is necessary to park on an incline, be sure to
chock the wheels to prevent accidental rolling of the
machine.
