Ring Gear Backlash 0.28-0.38 mm (0.011-0.015 in.)
Ring Gear End Play 0.1-0.2 mm (0.004-0.008 in.)
GE NERA L INFORMA T ION
All gear cases a r e ta gged beneath a cover bolt. This tag
is
m a rked with a produ ctio n date code, sequenc e code,
and
a ratio c ode.
The
“1” or “3.1” on the lower-right corner indicate s a
3.1 : 1 gear set ratio (11 : 34 te eth).
The
die-cast aluminum housings have been assembled
with
thread-rolling screws (trilobular). When assem-
bling
with these screws, start the screws ca refully into
the
housing; then use th e following torque values.
SPECIAL TOOLS
A number of sp ecial t ools must be available to the
te chnician when performing service procedures in this
section.

NOTE: Special tools are available from the
KYMCO Service Parts Department.
Front Drive Actuator
NOTE: The actuator is not a serviceable compo-
nent.
If it is defective, it must be replaced.
NOTE: The actuator will operate only when the
ignition
switch is in the ON position.
The front drive actuat or is located on the side of the
fron t drive input hous i ng. W ith t h e engin e stopped and
the
i gnition switch in the ON position, a momentary
“ whirring” sound ca n be heard each time the front
drive select or switch is shifted. If no sound is h e ard,
s
ee Section 5. If the actuator runs constantly or makes
squealing or grind i ng sounds, th e actuator must be
replaced.
REMOVING
1. D i s c onnect the conne c tor on the actuator harness.
2.
R e move the mounting cap screw from the drive-
sh
aft side of the actuator.

3. Remove the mounting cap screw from below the
ac tua t or on the suspension side.
