grease

secure the
sensor
with
the
ca

ctite
#242).

ghten securely.
Speed
Senso
r
1.
Se
t
the
mete
r
selecto
r
to
the
DC
Vo
ltage
p
osition.
2.
W
ith
appropriate
needle
adapters
on
the
me
ter
leads,
connect
the
red
te
ster
lead
to
the
voltage lead
(V);
then
c
onnec
t
the
black
tester
lead
to
the
ground
lead
(G).

Switch
The
igniti
on
switch
harness
connects
to
the
switch
with
a
three-pin
connector.
To
ac
cess
the
connector,
remove
th
e
access
p
a
n
el
in
front
of
t
h
e
handlebar.

Turn
the
igni
t

on
switch
to
the
ON
p
osition.
4.
The
m
eter
must
show
12.0
vo
lts
.
5.
Leave
the
bla
c
k
tes
te
r
le
ad connected
;
then
con-
ne
ct
the
red
tester lea
d
to
the
signal
lea
d
pin
(S).
6.

lowly
move
the
A
T
V
forward
or
backward;
the
meter
must
show
0
an
d
6
volt
s
alternately
.
NOTE:
If
the
sensor
tests
are
within
specifica-
tions,
the
speedometer
must
be
replaced
(see
Sec-
tion
9).

Connect
the
red
mete
r
le
ad
to
the
red/white
wire;
then
connect
the
black
meter
lead
to
ground.
3.
Meter
must
show
battery
voltage.
NOTE:
If
the
meter
shows
no
battery
voltage,
troubleshoot
the
battery
or
the
main
wiring
har-
ness.
To
replac
e a
speed
sensor,
use
the
following
procedure.
1.
Disconnec
t
the
three-wire
c
onne
c
tor
from
the speed
sensor;
then
remove
the
ca
p
s
c
rew
securing the
sensor
to
the
sensor
housing.
2.
Remove
the
senso
r
from
t
h
e sensor housing
accountin
g
fo
r
an
O-rin
g
.
