Control Keys
The functions of the control keys are given in the table below.
Function
Key
Primary
Secondary
(when pressed with SHIFT key)
ON LINE/STATUS
Switches the printer online and offline. Prints a page of status information.
FEED/SIZE
Selects the cassette feed, paper feeder, or
manual feed.
Selects the paper size for the currently
selected paper source.
SLEEP/CANCEL
Sets the sleep mode. Pressing a key on
the control panel, opening and closing a
cover, or sending data to the printer will
cause the printer to begin warming up.
Abandons a printing job. (Press
together with the SHIFT key at least
one second.)
SHIFT
Invokes the secondary function of each of the above keys when pressed together.

Settings made from the control panel may be automatically switched to different settings by application
software being used.
