(3) Replacing Fuel filter cartridge
1. Stop and cool down the engine and apply
parking brake.
2. Clean around the fuel filter and set a clean
container under the fuel filter.
3. Turn the fuel shutoff valve to “Close” position.
4. Loosening the ring-nut① and pull down the bowl
②.
5. Replace the filter element③ with a new one.
6. Assemble the filter element and bowl assembly.
Be sure to check the retaining spring④, float ⑤,
and seal⑥ locked in place.
7. Tighten the ring-nut①.
8. Bleed the system as outlined in chapter 5-12-(1),
“Air- bleeding from Fuel system” in this manual.

Do not throw the exhausted waste fuel to any place. This may pollute the soil and
water seriously and also is prohibited legally. If violating, you would be responsible
for that by civil or criminal case. The waste fuel must be disposed according to the
environment laws.
Caution
▶ Do not allow dirt to enter the fuel system. Thoroughly clean the area around a fuel
system component that will be disconnected. Fit a suitable cover disconnected fuel
system component. Do not fill the new filter with fuel. Invisible fine contaminants
can enter the injection pump and it may cause damage to the fuel injection system.
