11.1
Attaching Filters
The polarizer turret consists of the upper turret and the
lower turret.
In the standard configuration, three types of ND filters are
attached (ND2, ND4, and ND16) in the lower turret. One
position of the turret is an empty hole position.
An optional filter of 33 mm diameter can be attached into
the empty hole position of the upper turret. In the standard
configuration, an NCB filter is attached.

For the DIC microscopy
In this section, an example case is explained. (The DIC microscopy under the infrared rays is
described.)
(1) Preparations
When the variable magnification double port attachment is used,
Locate the analyzer into the optical path of the rear port.
Remove the DIC prism of the single objective holder from the optical path. And remove the DIC prism
of the condenser lens from the optical path.
When the variable magnification double port attachment and the epi-fl attachment (D-FL UEPI
FL) are used,
Locate the empty hole into the optical path for the epi-fl attachment turret and check that the analyzer
in the epi-fl attachment turret is not used.
Remove the DIC prism of the single objective holder from the optical path. And remove the DIC prism
of the condenser lens from the optical path.
When the trinocular eyepiece tube and the analyzer (FN-IR/ISA DIC IR analyzer) are used or
when the epi-fl attachment (D-FL U-EPI FL) is used,
Locate the IR analyzer into the optical path.
Remove the DIC prism of the sliding nosepiece from the optical path. And remove the DIC prism of the
condenser lens from the optical path.
